Cetronia Ambulance Corps is pleased to announce the appointment of its newest medical director, Dr. Zach Matuzsan, DO. Dr. Matuzsan is replacing longtime medical director Dr. William Zajdel, DO, who served with the non-profit organization for 29 years.

Dr. Matuzsan began his EMS career in 2007 as a volunteer EMT with the East Windsor Rescue Squad in New Jersey. He continued his involvement in EMS at Johns Hopkins University and graduated with a degree in Public Health Studies in 2012. Zach subsequently attended medical school at Rowan University’s School of Osteopathic Medicine and earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) in May of 2016. He completed an emergency medicine residency at Lehigh Valley Health Network in June 2020 where he was active as a pre-hospital physician before finishing an EMS fellowship at Cooper University Hospital in June 2021.

Zach returned to the Lehigh Valley Health Network after fellowship and has been a core faculty member for the emergency medicine residency program where he provides EMS education for medical students and residents. He is the fellowship director for LVHN’s EMS fellowship which will welcome its first fellow July 2024. He continues involvement with EMS as an Associate Medical Director for LVHN MedEvac and is medical director for multiple organizations in the Lehigh Valley region. Zach is involved in the Eastern PA EMS Council and sits on the Board of Directors in addition to other regional quality assurance programs. He is dual board certified in Emergency Medicine and EMS/Pre-Hospital Medicine.

When not working in the emergency department or with EMS, Zach likes spending time with his wife (who he met doing EMS in college) and 4-year-old twins. He is an avid Philadelphia sports fan, particularly when it comes to the Eagles and Phillies.

“We would like to wish Dr. Zajdel the best and thank him for the time and effort he has put into our organization. We are excited to begin a new chapter with Dr. Matuzsan offering guidance and helping us strengthen our clinical operations,” said Robert Mateff Sr., Chief Executive Officer for Cetronia Ambulance Corps.
